Lawrence A. Tweed, 89, of Tolna, ND passed away April 25, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. He was surrounded by his loved ones.

Lawrence was born in McVille, ND on April 30, 1923 to Joseph and Marie (Gudmundson) Tweed, and grew up on a farm near Tolna, ND. He attended high school at Oak Grove in Fargo, ND, and was a proud "Grover" and member of the choir and basketball team. During his first years out of high school, he put up grain bins in the Fargo area and continued to help out on the family farm. At this time his passion for travel and adventure began to flourish. He and his friend, Iver Lundeby built a unique car and drove it from North Dakota to Florida making several newspapers along the way. They also built a speed boat and gave rides at Red Willow Lake. Lawrence started farming independently in the Hamar area and in 1947 married Shirley Jurgenson. They were gifted with 50 wonderful years of marriage and five sons. Over the years Lawrence was very involved in his church, community and county serving on many boards. For several years, he was an inspiring 4-H leader sharing his leadership and handy-man skills. They hosted three Brazilian students and one Chicago inner city youth. He appreciated taking family vacations and spending Sundays with family, friends and neighbors. Along with farming, he had a love for the outdoors; enjoyed hunting and the "Hunting Shack", snowmobiling, motorcycles, and even snow skied up to the age of 75. In his later years he looked forward to Alaska trips and winters in Mesa, AZ.

His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, are so grateful for his example of faith, unconditional love, excellent sense of humor and knowing "how to live life to the fullest!"
