Libby M. Bina

Libby Marie Bina, age 97, formerly of Michigan, ND, died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota, ND.

Libby was born August 5, 1918 in Sauter Township of Walsh County, ND, the daughter of Vendal and Mary (Matejcek) Skalicky. She was raised on her parent’s farm and attended the Sauter School through the 8th grade. She then helped her mother in the cook car feeding the threshing crews. Libby married James J. Bina on September 30, 1940. They made their home at rural Whitman, ND, raising their children and farming together until 1979 when they moved to Michigan. She was a farmer’s wife all her life, except for a short time when she worked at the nursing home in Michigan and on the potato harvest at Park River, ND. Libby liked walking for the pure enjoyment of being outdoors, as well as enjoying flowers and traveling. Libby was a member of the Sarnia/Michigan Lutheran church.

She is survived by sons, Sidney of Grand Forks and Tim of rural Michigan.

She is preceded in death by her husband (1980); a son, Curtis (1990); and 2 brothers, Clarence and Gordon.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the East Sarnia Cemetery, rural Whitman, ND. Officiating will be the Reverend Barb Koenig.
