Lyle Edlund

Lyle Edlund left us September 29, 2015 to spend eternity with his parents, Kenneth and Alice Edlund, his sister, Joyce Helen Larson, his brother, Eugene Kenneth Edlund, and his grandson Chad Gader. We are sad to say goodbye to him, but rejoice that he is healed and himself again.

His life began on November 2, 1928 at Hastings, ND. And what a good life it was. He graduated from Binford High School and was baptized and confirmed a Lutheran. He married Lorraine Larson and spent 65 years with his high school sweetheart. (He always said this was his way of upgrading the Norwegians). He was full of good advice for his 5 kids and anyone else who would listen to it. He had a great sense of humor and loved playing jokes on people. He worked hard and loved his family and friends, and was always willing to share what he had. He was pretty proud of Lorraine's great cooking and was always sending people away with food. "Put this in your pocket, it will taste darn good later when you are hungry!" He spent his holidays hauling to people who couldn't get out to eat. He liked when his kids would come home for an afternoon, because he thought it made Lorraine happy. He would then go to the basement and watch tv and feed his best friend and dog, Mitzy. He worked with Lannes every day, and was thankful for that. His life was too short, even though he lived almost 87 years. He was a great example to his family and friends, always acknowledging everyone, and treated everyone kindly. Lyle owned and operated the school buses in Binford for 19 years. He was involved in Edlund Motors his whole life, could listen to a tractor running and tell you what was wrong with it. He also carried mail, first as substitute, then a full time carrier. He enjoyed sitting in the station, visiting with his old friends. We'd like to leave you with a couple of Dad's favorite Lyle-isms: Check the oil, keep your gas tank full and cash in your pocket.

Left to miss him are his wife, Lorraine, his 4 daughters, Shelley (Ron) Halvorson, Kathy (David) Brandt, Julie (Bruce) Sedler and Kristy (Brian) Gader, his son, Lannes (Elaine) Edlund, his 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and beloved dog Mitzy.

Memorial services for Lyle will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 1:30 P.M. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Binford, ND.
