Marcus A Twedt

Marcus Twedt, 86, formerly of McHenry, ND died on February 18, 2025, at Eventide Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake, ND.

Marcus Arnold Twedt was born on July 29, 1938, to Knut and Thelma (Hogie) Twedt in McHenry, ND. Marcus grew up on the family farm near McHenry and Tolna, ND, with his two brothers and two sisters. He graduated from Oak Grove High School, Fargo, ND in 1956. He then served in the U.S Army.

Marcus farmed with his family throughout his life, including his dad, brothers and nephews. He worked primarily as a grain farmer with brothers Art and Gordon, and he also partnered in the dairy business with Gordon until the 1970s.

Marcus enjoyed participating in bowling and softball, and he would often challenge his nephews in basketball and wiffleball. He was also known for keeping in touch with friends and family via telephone throughout his life.

Marcus is survived by his sister-in-law Velda Twedt, Fergus Falls, MN; by nephews and nieces Virgil, Roger, Gerald, Marlys, Ron, Carol, Curtis, Duane, Alan and Nick; and also by many relatives in Norway.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Arthur and Gordon, sisters Isabel Johnson and Agnes Howard, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Clifford Johnson, Chuck Howard and Ardis Twedt, and by niece Julie.

Visitation will be held on March 6, 2025, at 4:00 pm at Aaker Funeral Home, Lakota, ND. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm. Burial will be at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church cemetery, rural Tolna, ND in the spring.
