Marge E. Peterson

Marge E. Peterson, age 84, resident of Lakota, ND, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Marge Ellen Bailey was born at Hillsboro, ND, on December 17, 1931. She graduated from high school in Halstad, MN in 1950 and in 1951 she began attending Mayville State Teachers College. Marge married Robert J. Peterson on March 21, 1952 in Hillsboro. To this union was born a daughter, Debi, on April 13, 1956. They lived around North Dakota before settling in Lakota in 1970. Marge worked at Cargill in Lakota, the SunLac Inn, Tronson Grain, and Lutheran Social Services. She had many good friends and she loved her farmer customers. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Lakota Lutheran Church, where she had served on the church council. Marge enjoyed baking, cooking, reading, and gardening. She was a devoted grandmother; she thoroughly loved her granddaughters and their families.

Marge is survived by her granddaughters, Codi (Dean Jr.) Fandrich of Churchs Ferry, ND and Casey (Cody) Korb of Lakota; great-grandchildren, Owen and Kaylee & one on the way; a special cousin, Rita (Paul) Viker of Halstad, MN; 2 brothers-in-law, Tom Skarp and Ron Stuart; sister-in-law, Diane Bailey; and her nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Olive Bailey; husband, Robert; daughter, Debi; 2 sisters, Vernita Stuart and Edith Skarp; 1 brother, Leonard Bailey; an uncle, George “Hank” Bird; and an aunt, Ethel.

The Memorial Service for Marge will be held at Lakota Lutheran Church on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Tedd Rieke, the organist will be Karen Fowler. An Honor Guard will be provided by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rundell-Holicky American Legion Post #21. The family considers the crew at Tronson Grain to be honorary bearers. Interment will be in the spring at the Lakota Cemetery.
