Marguerite Sitar, age 90, resident of Lakota, ND, passed away Friday, July 27, 2012 at the Stewartville Care Center in Stewartville, MN.

Marguerite Anne Grinde was born November 4, 1921 in Lakota, ND, to Simon and Irene (Thomas) Grinde. She attended school in Lakota and Mayville, ND. She married Martin L. Sitar on November 3, 1940 . The couple farmed and Marguerite worked at the Johnson Store for many years, and later as a Dietary Aide at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Marguerite was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and embroidery. For many years Marguerite offered her beautiful hand-made items for sale in the Lakota area, particularly her hand embroidered "Butterfly" dish towels. Marguerite was in the process of moving to an assisted living facility in Stewartville. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lakota, the Altar Society, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 73 years (39 years as membership chairman).

Marguerite will be deeply missed by her son, Robert of Lakota; her daughter, Donna (Bob) Morgan of Rochester, MN; nine grandchildren, Robert "Bobby" (Tammy) Sitar, Michael (Alicia) Eaton, Terri (Keith) Locati, Vicki Sitar, Jeanne (John) Patterson, Marianne Sitar Cook, Andrew Sitar, Robert E. (Twyla) Morgan, and Rhonda L. (Edward) Torvund; 15 great grandchildren, Tommy and Courtney Sitar, Zachary, Nicolas, and Alison Zermuhlen, Rachael Sitar, Alexis and Sofie Locati, Haillea Wagner, Amanda and Amber Torvund, and Bradley Poirier, John, Jack and Jacob Patterson; her brothers, Paul Marlyn (Edith) Grinde of Charlottesville, VA and J. Warren (Kathryn) Grinde of Port Royal, VA; her former daughter-in-law, Nancy Hassell-Sitar of Chesapeake, VA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Allen and Stewart Grinde.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church of Lakota on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Lakota Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Thursday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.
