Marian D. Hendrickson, 89, McVille, ND, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Marian was born on September 7, 1936 to Syver and Clara (Paulson) Reep. She grew up in Michigan, ND and graduated from Michigan High School. On October 10, 1954 she married Vernon Hendrickson in Michigan. The couple farmed in Center Township near Michigan. Marian had various jobs through the years, including, telephone operator, farming, Ressler’s Grocery Store, McVille Flower Shop, McVille Drug Store and American Legion pull-tabs.
Marian was a member of Center Lutheran Church, McVille Lutheran Church, and was a lifetime member of McVille Legion Auxiliary. She also volunteered with Nelson County Health System (NCHS) and was a founding member of the NCHS Foundation and the McVille quilting club.
Marian enjoyed knitting & crocheting, games on her iPad, keeping in touch through Facebook, and was an avid bird watcher. Marian loved to play cards and was known as a card shark as she always knew what everyone else had in their hands. She was often lovingly teased, that no one wanted to sit by her, because she “cheated at cards”. Marian was known for her buns, when the grandkids and great-grandkids visited they asked for “grandma buns”.
Marian is survived by her three children, Lauri (Franklin) Rysavy, Lon Hendrickson, and Wendel (Lorie Schlechter) Hendrickson; grandchildren, Danielle (Ben) Gjovik, Nicholas (Katie Peavy) Rysavy, Kylie (Charles) Schmitz, Channing Turner, Jordan Hendrickson (Brian Olthoff), Whitney (Jesse) Dieseth, and Brandon (Katie) Sletten; great-grandchildren, Julia & Jaxson Gjovik, Clara & Leo Schmitz, Hayley Peavy Rysavy, Griffen & Calvin Turner, Blake & Henry Olthoff, and Lilly, Moxin, Sawyer & Calliope Dieseth; half-brother, John Kallestad Jr.; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Reep, Betty Kroke and Eleanor (Robert) Benson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; parents; step-father, John Kallestad; brothers, Richard, Wayne, Jimmy, and Eugene Reep; sisters, Sandra Reep and Sylvia Brichnac; step-brothers, Lyle and Mannie Kallestad; sister-in-law, Donna Kallestad and brother-in-law, Forrest Kroke.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Aaker Funeral Home, Lakota, ND.
The funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation from 10-11 A.M. at McVille Lutheran Church, McVille, ND.
Burial will be at Center Lutheran Cemetery, in the spring.
