Marjorie Shedd

Marjorie D. Shedd, age 83, resident of McVille, ND, formerly of Pekin, ND, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks under Palliative Care.

Marjorie Doris Schuh was born April 3, 1927 and raised on her parent's farm near Lakota, ND. She is the daughter of John and Anna (Woods) Schuh. She attended school there and worked various jobs, including the Red Owl Store. Marjorie married Lewis Shedd on February 9, 1949. They lived and farmed near Pekin. Marjorie worked as a Nurses Aide at the care center in McVille for 40 years. Lewis died January 2, 1974. Marjorie moved to McVille in 1979. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially babysitting her grandchildren. She was a good cook and was well known for her potato salad. Marjorie moved to Grand Forks in February of 2009 and lived at Valley Eldercare.

Marjorie will be missed by her children, Myrna (Leland) Ophaug of McVille, Larry Shedd of McVille, and LuAnn (John) Franzen of Lakota; 9 grandchildren, Michael (Lynn) Ophaug, Matthew (Ashley) Franzen, Dezi Shedd, Michelle Ophaug, Melissa Ophaug, Lori Franzen (Greg Pruett), Kylie Shedd, Lisa (Matt) Henke, and Kimberly Franzen (John Cook); 2 sisters, Shirley (Roger) Clauson of McVille and Gloria Smith of Minnesota; as well as her nieces and nephews. She was anticipating the arrival of a great-granddaughter, Kendra Henke, in November.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis; daughter, Lynda; 2 sisters, Betty Collins and Mary Hier; 4 brothers, Jack, Richard, Lawrence, and Joseph; and a half brother, Bud.

Marjorie's Funeral Service will be held at the Sheyenne Lutheran Church, rural Pekin, ND, on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Sheyenne Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille, ND, on Friday, October 8, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will continue at the church on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
