Mary A. Anderson, age 91, resident of Lakota, ND, formerly of Michigan, ND, died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota.
Mary Ann Reineke was born April 14, 1921 at Beardsley, MN, the daughter of John Sr. and Emma (Holtz) Reineke. As a young girl, she moved with her family in 1928 to Michigan, ND. She attended school there and was a graduate of Michigan High School. Mary married Morris Anderson on December 27, 1945 at Lakota, ND. They farmed together north of Michigan until retiring in 1979, and then moved into town. Morris died October 27, 1998. Mary continued living in their home until moving to the Good Samaritan Society in April of 2009. Mary was an active member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church in Michigan. She worked at the Kite Café of Michigan and also the Sunlac Inn of Lakota.
Mary will be deeply missed by her 5 sons, Donald (Corrine) of West Fargo, ND, Gary of Rapid City, SD, Steven (Yvonne) of Bismarck, ND, Larry (Michelle Zentz) of Fargo, ND, and Dennis (Becky) of Lakota; her daughter, Jane (Wayne) Cumber of West Fargo, ND; daughter-in-law, Jane Anderson of Burnsville, MN; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Tracy Miller of Minneapolis, MN, Jo Hankel of Bloomington, MN, Pat (Don) Buzzell of St. Cloud, MN, and Marge Berdahl of Lakota, ND; sister-in-law, Margaret Skjervem of Lakota, ND; and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris; son, Roger; daughter-in-law, Sue Anderson; grandson, Jason Anderson; 3 brothers, John Jr., William Sr., and James; 2 sisters, Agnes Ryba and Helen Floren; an infant brother and an infant sister.
The Funeral Mass for Mary will be held at St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church of Michigan on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Steven Meyer. Music will be provided by Jason Flom. Burial will be in the Michigan Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Monday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Church on Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials are preferred to the Michigan Fire Department or the Michigan Volunteer Ambulance Service.
