Mary Jane Sears

Mary Jane Sears, age 89, resident of Aneta, ND passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta, ND.
Mary Jane was born on July 8, 1924 to Joseph & Anna (Fiebiger) Zimprich on the family farm 6 miles southwest of Aneta. She was baptized & confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aneta. She attended country school through the 8 th grade, graduated from Aneta High School and went on to receive her 2 year teaching certificate from the Teachers College in Valley City, ND. Mary Jane taught for a few years in the Seim & McCardle Schools.
Mary Jane started to date her future husband Harvey and in 1947 he even rented a snow plane so they could continue to see each other during the winter. She married Harvey Sears on June 8, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aneta. The couple farmed and raised livestock for several years. Mary Jane was very involved with the farm, milking cows, feeding the turkeys and taking care of the family. She was active with the Sacred Heart Guild and taught religion, a member of the Good Samaritan Women's Auxiliary and the Dairy Women's Association. Mary Jane loved flowers, plants and gardening.
Mary Jane is survived by her son James (Mary) Sears of Aneta, ND, 5 grandchildren Nick Sears, Joanna Lee, Kathleen Sears, Bridget Matt and Teresa Stepan, 9 great grandchildren and one sister Anne Speldrich of Sykeston, ND.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey, sisters Rozella Evenstad and Joyce Heinz, brothers Edward Zimprich and Joe Zimprich.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10:00AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aneta, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 from 5pm to 7pm with a 7pm prayer service in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel and continue one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Aneta, ND. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Masses be said for Mary Jane.
Memorials may be given to the Aneta Parkview Health Center of Aneta, ND or St. Gianna's Maternity Home, 15605 County Road 15, Minto, ND.
