Michael Julious Ham, 78, died peacefully at his home in Wyndmere, ND on Sunday March 30, 2025.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Aaker Funeral Home, Lakota, ND. Burial will follow at the Michigan Cemetery.

Mike was born July 22, 1946, the first of six children of Julious and Marian (Goetze) Ham. He attended school in Aneta, North Dakota until 11th grade when he left to join the United States Navy.

After a medical discharge from the military, Mike returned home and trained as a diesel mechanic, working various jobs and spending his free time fixing and racing cars with his friends and brothers. Even now the Ham brothers recall their stories not by people or places, but by the cars they drove at the time. Mike loved everything about old cars as long as it was a Ford. He could spend hours talking about cars, trucks, or tractors, especially the ones he owned over the years.

Mike married Anne Marie Marek December 12, 1974 and moved to Michigan, ND. Mike embraced fatherhood, adopting Anne’s four children and having two more daughters Angel (d.1978) and Jennifer born in 1980. While in Michigan, Mike enjoyed working for the John Deere Implement, and also drove truck for Knetter Cheese. In 1987, Mike and Anne moved to Wyndmere, ND where he began driving truck for Sunwood Trucking out of Jamestown, where he spent the remainder of his career.

Mike reunited with his long lost love, Marcie Shoeneck, whom he married June 17, 2006. They remained married until Marcie’s death in 2020.

Mike was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining large gatherings of his family and friends for any occasion, though he particularly loved baking over the holidays. He loved sharing memories with anyone who would listen and was known to get teary-eyed as he told stories about his kids.

Mike is survived by his children, Kelly (Mary) Ham, Rochelle Hubert, Donna (Randy) Honeycutt, Jack (Carrie) Ham, Jennifer (Mike) Holtz, Shannon Evanouski and Marissa Evanouski; siblings, Myron, Mallory, Mitchell, and Merlin; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to Sheryl Tisdel for the care and support she gave Mike to ensure he would live independently and comfortably in his home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcie (Shoeneck) Ham; his first wife, Anne (Marek) Ham; daughter, Angel; parents, Julious and Marian; and sister Maureen.
