She was born May 16, 1953 in Caledonia, MN to Harold and Juanita (Schroeder) Kohlmeyer.  She was raised in LaCrosse, WI, where she attended Mt. Calvary Lutheran, Luther High School, and the University of WI - La Crosse.  During this time, she had several jobs babysitting and working at Woolworths.  She also began her love of sewing during her high school years.

She met the love of her life, Lloyd Gjovik, when interviewing for her first teaching position in Alsen, ND.  They got engaged on their third date and married November 28, 1975 at the Sheyenne Church of rural Pekin.  This union was blessed with three children, Lisa in 1976, Craig in 1977, and Kaare in 1978.  Lloyd and Nancy lived in Binford for several years where she was a music teacher.  She instilled her love for music in 100’s of students over the years.  After Binford, they moved to Bowbells, ND, where she taught music until the time they moved to Colorado.  In Colorado, she took a job as a Music teacher and proceeded to take the job as school administrator once Lloyd retired.  She continued to work for the Augilar School District until they decided to move back to North Dakota to be closer to family.  When they returned to North Dakota, Nancy helped take care of her grandchildren.  When her grandson, Keegen, went to elementary school she followed him and took a job working for Dakota Prairie Elementary School as Technology Coordinator.  She was a member of Sheyenne Church and was the church treasurer for several years until the time of her death.

Nancy loved being a mother, and loved being a grandmother even more.  She was blessed with 5 grandchildren; Kennedy in 2000, Abby in 2003, Kelby in 2004, Keegen in 2006, and Kelsie in 2009.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and being their partners in crime.  She passed on to them her love for planting flowers, sewing, and building Legos.

Nancy is survived by her three children, Anna Lisa of Fargo, ND, Craig (Jenny) of Peoria, AZ, and Kaare (Becka) of Pekin, ND; five grandchildren, Abby, Kelsie, Kennedy, Kelby, and Keegen; two sisters, Glenda Lee of West Salem, WI and Janet (Jim) Itnyre of Stoddard, WI; one brother, Lance (Deb) Kohlmeyer of Fargo, ND; two brothers-in-law, Aanen (Carrol) of Walla Walla, WA and Peder (Gail) of Valley City, ND; one sister-in-law, Kjellaug (Kenny) of Sharon, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
