Norman Cecil Tweet, age 91, of Aneta, ND, died Friday, January 22, 2016 at Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta.

Norman was born August 14, 1924 in rural Larson, ND, the son of Theodore Tweet and Anna Sarah Fenster. He attended school in Larson for a number of years, graduating from Columbus ND High School in 1942. Education was so important to Norman that he is said to have walked ten miles round-trip every day to attend high school in Columbus. After school he worked as a farm hand until he enlisted in the United States Navy in January, 1944. He was honorably discharged in May, 1946. Norman enrolled in college at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND under the G.I. Bill, and achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in January of 1950. Over the years he worked at various accounting jobs, retiring in May, 1990. Following his retirement, he and June grew huge vegetable gardens and sold their produce at local Farmer’s Markets.

He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, bowling, softball, and baseball. His extended family meant the world to him, and he never forgot the birthday of a family member. He will be remembered with love by his sister, his friends, and many nieces and nephews.

Norman is survived by his beloved sister Doris Peterson (Arthur) of Conrad, MT, sister-in-law, Inez Tweet of Seattle, WA, and brother-in-law Pat Mader of Dickinson, ND.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Anna, wife June, brothers Lester, Lorence (Roberta), Clarence (Alpha), Donald, Glen, Earl (Maysel), Berneil (Lyla), and sisters, Mildred (Orton), Alma, Irma (Orville), and Delores (Babe) (Jerry).
