Olga Knudson, age 91, resident of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of McVille, ND, died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, ND.
Olga L. Jerstad was born February 24, 1922, in rural Finley, ND to Edward and Marie (Linderud) Jerstad. The family moved to Fargo when she was two, where she graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School and Interstate Business College. She married Arthur Knudson January 16, 1948 in Minneapolis. They farmed near Aneta and moved just outside of McVille in 1977. Interestingly, their grandparents hauled grain to Michigan together by oxen, 50 years before they met.
Olga was a faithful wife, mother, and servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She enjoyed gatherings with family and friends, and traveling to visit them. Special trips included Trinidad, where Arthur was a mission rep, and Norway.
Besides her husband of 65 years, she is survived by her children Brian ( Grand Forks ), Dennis (Sheila) of Southlake, TX, Kent (LuAnn), Hamel, IL, Ardell, Casper, WY, Gene of Sanger, TX, and Connie (Nathan) Horneck, Wellington, OH. There are 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother E. Myron, who was killed in action in WWII.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Child Evangelism Fellowship, PO Box 348, Warrenton, MO 63383.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Hatton Prairie Village, Hatton, ND. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services. Spring interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kloten, ND.
