Orpha Christensen

Orpha A. Christensen, age 91, resident of Edmore, ND, formerly of Pekin, ND, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at First Care Health Center in Park River, ND.

Orpha A. Christensen was born December 30, 1918 to Christ & Alice (Johnson) Christensen on their family farm near McVille, ND. Orpha attended the Lundeby School south of Tolna through the 8 th grade.

Following her education, she stayed at home helping her father. She was confirmed at the Pekin Lutheran Church. In 1978 Orpha moved into the Edmore Rest Home, after her and her father's health declined. Her father was a resident in the McVille nursing home and Orpha was no longer able to care for herself. Orpha's mother died 2 weeks after giving birth to her brother, Lavaine. Her father died in 1981.

Orpha is survived by her brother, Lavaine Christensen of Granville, ND; 3 nephews and 2 nieces. The Edmore Rest Home was Orpha's home for almost 32 years.

A Memorial Service for Orpha was held at the Edmore Rest Home on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Sheyenne Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Pekin, ND, on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 3:30 p.m.
