Patsy Reiten

Elsie Patricia "Patsy" Reiten, 86, of Grand Forks, ND passed away November 3, 2014 at home surrounded by her children.

Patsy was born April 29, 1928 to William and Isabella Young in Michigan, ND. She attended Williams Consolidated School and graduated from Michigan High School. After graduation she moved to Bradford, IL to be with her parents. On November 15, 1947 Patsy and L. Victor Reiten were married in Kewanee, IL. They returned to Petersburg, ND, and in 1955 moved to McVille, ND where her husband owned and operated the International Harvester Dealership and where they raised their 4 children.

Patsy was active in her community and was a wonderful role model for her children. Her greatest joy and pride was the day she passed the North Dakota Emergency Medical Technician State Boards which certified her as an EMT. She then became certified to teach CPR classes. She was also elected to serve on the EMT State Board, representing the Eastern District. She went on to become part of the state testing/certifying team. Patsy Joyfully served on the McVille Ambulance Squad for 18 years and loved every aspect of this part of her life. Patsy also served on the McVille Park Board, taught Sunday School, and served on the McVille Lutheran Church Council. A lover of the game of golf, Patsy volunteered many hours for the McVille Golf Course. She also enjoyed watching her children participate in sporting events, especially basketball.

Patsy and Vic spent 20 years at Venture Out in Arizona. There, they continued to participate in their love for golf, dancing, card playing, meeting new people, and spending time with old "true" friends. As much as Patsy loved her life in Arizona, she was always ready to return home to her children and family.

Patsy and Vic moved to Grand Forks in 2003. They were married for 2 months shy of sixty years.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Ella Young; husband Victor Reiten; brothers James, Willie, Frank, Tom, Robert, and Allan Young; nephews Bill, Raymond, David, Mark, and Bob Young, and Eric Baldees.

Patsy is survived by her 4 children Douglas (Norene) Reiten, Grand Forks, ND, Elizabeth (Frank) Thorngren, Hettinger, ND, Neil (Stacey) Reiten, McVille, ND, and Dennis Reiten, McVille, ND, brother Dennis (June) Young, Alexandria, MN, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 4 p.m. at McVille Lutheran Church, McVille, ND. Visitation will be an hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Petersburg Cemetery, Petersburg, ND.
