Pearl B. Lybeck, age 79, resident of Petersburg, ND, died Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille, ND.

Pearl Bernice Bratland was born May 12, 1934 in Strathcona, MN, the daughter of Oscar and Mable (Ingberg) Bratland. She was raised in Strathcona and educated in Middle River, MN, graduating high school there. Pearl worked for a telephone company in the Fosston area before managing a café in Warren. She eventually moved to North Dakota to manage a motel in Emerado and also worked at the nursing home in Aneta. Pearl married Lloyd Lybeck on February 18, 1977 in Petersburg. They farmed and lived near Petersburg before moving into town in 1985. Pearl was active in the Petersburg Lutheran Church. She was the church secretary for many years, served with the ladies aid, and taught Sunday school. She served senior meals, as she thoroughly enjoyed cooking for others, and enjoyed bowling on several leagues. Pearl and Lloyd moved to Grand Forks in 2007. They were excited and proud at the birth of their grandson, Christian, in 2006. Pearl moved to the care center in McVille in January of 2013.

Pearl will be greatly missed by her husband, Lloyd; her son, Darrin & his wife Michelle Lybeck of Petersburg; her grandson, Christian Lybeck; 2 sisters, Ruby Erickson and Myrtle Sterner, both of Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Faith; and 7 brothers, Ben, Obert, Oscar, Raymond, Walter, James, and Warren.

Pearl 's Funeral Service will be held at the Petersburg Lutheran Church, Petersburg, ND, on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Val Teppo. Interment will be in the spring at the Petersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
