Peter Sandbeck

Peter Sandbeck, age 85, resident of Aneta, ND died Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Pete was born October 26, 1926 in Ora Township, Aneta, ND the youngest child of Peter and Emma (Gesvold) Sandbeck. Pete attended grade school in Aneta and graduated from Aneta High School in 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from November 1945 to February 1947 were he was stationed in Germany. Pete returned to Aneta were he was employed at the Aneta Creamery for several years before being employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement. Pete married Elaine Delores "Dodie" Grina at Northwood, ND on July 7, 1952. They resided in Aneta all of their married life having moved into the Aneta Parkview Center in 2009.

Peter is survived by his wife of 60 years Dodie; sisters-in-law Leona Sandbeck and Mildred McKenzie; brother-in-law Marven (Beryl) Grina; aunt Edna De Hart; and many nieces and nephews.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lawrence and wife Esther, Orris; sister Pearl Hamre and husband Olaf; and brother-in-law H.R. "Mac" McKenzie.

Funeral Services for Peter will be held Friday, October 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Sundahl Lutheran Church, Aneta, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church. Military Honors by the Edward A. Broberg American Legion Post #16, Aneta, ND. Interment will be in the Silent Hill Cemetery, rural Aneta, ND.
