Phillip J. Pesek, age 88, resident of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of rural Lawton, ND, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at his home in Grand Forks, ND.
Phillip John Pesek was born November 5, 1927 the son of John and Adella (Pouzar) Pesek of Lawton, ND. He lived and worked on the family farm until 2005 when he moved to Grand Forks. Phil enjoyed farming, fishing, and going to Montana to work in the 60’s and 70’s as a brick tender. He helped build Montana’s largest High School and the Deaconess Hospital in Great Falls. Phil served in the US Army during the Korean war from 1951 until he was honorably discharged in 1953 with the rank of Corporal. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.
Phil will be survived by his brother, John; his son Jacob; step sons, Rick Lacey and Roger Hanley; step daughter, Karen Armstrong; and former wife, Judy Pesek.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents; an uncle, Tom; and former wife, Charlotte (Armstrong) Pesek.
The Graveside Service will be held at St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery, Lomice, rural Lawton, ND, on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Steven J. Meyer. Military Honors will be conducted by the W.L. Cowper American Legion Post #238 of Michigan, ND, and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.
