Rhoda M. Lund

Rhoda M. Lund, age 89, resident of Tolna, ND, died Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the NCHS Care Center in McVille, ND.

Rhoda Mae Trostad was born September 17, 1935 in McVille, ND, the daughter of Ralph and Ethel (Koloen) Trostad.  She was baptized and confirmed at West Prairie Lutheran Church.  She graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1953 and Minneapolis Business College in 1955.

She married Harlan Lund on November 30, 1965.  They lived and worked on the family farm, raising their five children.  Once the children were grown, she was top sales with Christmas Around the World and earned trips to Egypt, Israel, Hawaii, cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean.  Harlan and Rhoda sang duets for many special occasions.

Rhoda loved time with her family and enjoyed baking, bowling, gardening, camping, playing cards and games.  A cup of coffee was always by her side.  She was well known for her lefse, flatbread, apple bars, pies, and loved sharing her garden vegetables, apples, and raspberries.  She was an avid bowler for six decades and sewed many blue-ribbon outfits for the family.  She was a 4-H leader, in Garden Club, and a member active in quilting and WELCA at Sigdal Lutheran Church.  She was a good listener and friend.

Rhoda was reunited in heaven with her husband; parents; brother, Richard Trostad; and in-laws, Ordis and Ted Sonderby.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Michael (Susan) Lund, Stacy (Kelly) Lund, Kristi Smith, Kim Adolphson, and Lezlie (Darrin) Northagen; 12 grandchildren, Tanya (Dustin) Payne, Trevor (Lora) Lund, Alyssa (Zach) Lund, Logan and Jonathan Lund, Terri and Wade Johnson, Kelsey (Brock) Fritze, Spencer (Harleigh) Adolphson, Paige, Hope and Blake Northagen; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Bebe (Curtis) McCardle; in-laws, Phyllis Trostad and Elna (DuWayne) Anderson; aunt, Helen Bakken; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Memorial Service for Rhoda will be held at American Lutheran Church in Tolna, ND, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in the Sigdal Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Tolna.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, from 5:00-7:00 p.m, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.
