Bob Shirek, age 67, resident of Lankin, ND, died peacefully, but unexpectedly in his sleep on Sunday, April 2, 2017 in the only home he ever lived in.

Bob joined the National Guard immediately after high school. He then returned home to farm with his father. In 1968, he alongside, Daniel Shirek and Charlie Ryba, started SSR Pump Co.

Bob also traveled to Texas multiple times to visit Amy and Nicole’s families. Highlights included a trip to San Antonio and drinking and eating on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. At the end of January, Bob and all of his kids celebrated what would have been Kay’s 65th birthday in Las Vegas. He fulfilled a lifetime dream of seeing the Hoover Dam. Attending “The Rat Pack Review” was also a special event.
While Bob enjoyed traveling, his true passion was fishing. Ryan and Bob traded up ice fish houses to match the growing number of grandkids that would accompany them. Bob loved taking all of his grandkids fishing and watching their various activities.
