Roger Wayne Gillett

Roger Wayne Gillett, 68, of Tolna , ND passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009 after a courageous battle with dementia and Parkinson's disease. He had been a resident of Aneta Parkview Care Center since July 2007.

Roger was born May 12, 1941 in McVille , ND to Elmer and Bernice (Broste) Gillett. He attended school in Hamar and in Sheyenne, ND.

In the fall of 1960 Roger moved onto the Paul Reeves farm north of Tolna where he worked for and eventually farmed with Paul. Roger married Bonnie Eikom on July 29, 1961 at Hamar Lutheran Church . Roger and Bonnie raised their 3 sons on the farm. Family and farming were at the center of Roger's life. Spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events were his favorite things to do.

Roger will be greatly missed by his wife of 48 years, Bonnie, Tolna, son Dale (Carolyn), Grafton, son Kevon (Lisa) and son Tim (Melissa), both of Tolna. Grandchildren Paul (Carrie) Gillett, Abilene Texas, Bethany (Brett) Narveson, Dane and Sarah Gillett, Grafton, Jenna, Dylan, Ethan, Kirstie, and Shelby Gillett, Tolna, Amanda Karel, Fargo, Rose Karel, Grafton, 4 great grandchildren - Lily, Dustin, Aaliyah and Abdon, sister Bonnie (Myron) Papachek, Hamar and aunt Ila Halvorson, Tolna.

Roger was preceeded in death by his parents, his brothers James and Don Gillett and dear friend Paul Reeves.

Visitation will be at the Tolna American Lutheran Church on Thursday, September 17 from 5 to 7 pm with family service at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18 at 10:30 at the Tolna American Lutheran Church . Officiating will be Reverend David Nichols. Organist will be Delores Clute. Casketbearers will be Eugene Gleason, Allan Forde, Clayton Ward, Dan Marquart, Jason Hoffman, Steven Dahl, Keith Edlund and Wayne Stubson. Interment will be in the Tolna Cemetery . Arrangements with the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home.
