Roger L. Hildremyr, age 59, resident of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND surrounded by his family.

Roger Lloyd was born on November 24, 1948 to Woodrow and Marion (Thiel) Hildremyr in Grand Forks, ND. He was raised on the family farm in Petersburg, ND. Roger was baptized at the Melrose Lutheran Church and confirmed at Petersburg Lutheran Church. Roger attended a country school for grades 1 – 6, and graduated from Unity High School in Petersburg in 1966. He attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton and Mayville State College in Mayville, ND. Roger served in the US Army from June 1969 to January of 1971 and served a 16 month tour of duty in Thailand. Roger married Lyla Frederikson on September 4, 1971 at Petersburg and two children were born from this union.

Roger dedicated his life to the safety of others during his work career as a Project Safety Manager and Safety Engineer. He started his safety career for H.C. Smith on missile sites in North Dakota, Montana, and Missouri. He worked as a compliance officer for OSHA. As a Safety Engineer, He worked for Kaiser Engineering in Colorado and Washington and most recently for Flour Daniels in Richland, Washington. He also worked with M.A. Mortinson on various projects and on the Alerus Center in Grand Forks after the flood of 1997. Roger was a member of the Association of Safety Engineers, the American Legion, served on his church council, a Boy Scout Leader and Mason. Roger’s greatest joy came from being with family and his children.

He is survived by his wife, Lyla of Grand Forks; son, Jonathan Woodrow (Mindy) Hildremyr of Bismarck, ND; daughter, Karin Dyan of Minneapolis, MN; granddaughter, McKenzie Ann of Bismarck, ND; mother, Marion (Bob) Shide of Larimore, ND; sister, Linda (Bob) Olson of Pequot Lakes, MN; brother, Guy (Penny) Hildremyr of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Greg (Sue) Hildremyr of Larimore, ND; mother-in-law, Hazel Frederickson of Petersburg, ND; brother-in-law, Eldred (Sandy) Frederickson of Carrington, ND; 4 nieces, 4 nephews and 5 great nieces.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow; an infant brother; and father-in-law Elverne.

Visitation: will be held at the Petersburg Lutheran Church on Thursday, July 24, 2008 beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday for 1 hour prior to the funeral service.

Funeral Service: will be held at the Petersburg Lutheran Church on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Tim Bauer. The organist will be Marlys Hoverson and the soloist will be Kevin Nelson.

Burial: will be at the Petersburg Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Dale Johnson, Fred Kelm, Roger Hoverson, Eldred Frederikson, Robert Olson, and Eric Vein in honor of John Vein. Honorary bearers will be all of Roger’s nieces and nephews. Military Honors will be provided by the Ted Valerius American Legion Post # 97 of Larimore.
