Rosadell Flaagan

Rosadell M. Flaagan, 86, a long time resident of rural Tolna, died April12, 2012 at the Nelson County Health System - Hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the Sigdal Lutheran Church rural Tolna. Family will be receiving visitors from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Sigdal Lutheran Church with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Rosadell was born June 12, 1925 at Devils Lake, ND the daughter of Charles and Francis Jean (Mahoney) Anstadt. Rosadell was one of two children. Her sister and mother died when she was very young. She remained in Crary and lived with her Uncle Art and Aunt Ellen Osborne so she could continue attending school of which she graduated from Crary High School . After graduation she attended Mayville State Teachers College where she received her teaching certificate. Rosadell taught country school for a short time in Forde Township . In 1944 she left for Minneapolis to work at the Defense plant that manufactured munitions for the war effort.

Rosadell married Arvid Flaagan on December 17, 1945 in Minneapolis. When Arvid was discharged from the Navy in May 1946, they rented the Arthur Deehr farm in Forde Township . In October 1950, they moved to the Henry Lein farm which they purchased in November 1950, and; where Rosadell resided until her death. Together they farmed and raised twelve children. Like many farm families, Arvid and Rosadell made a living doing things together. Arvid died December, 1981.

Rosadell thoroughly enjoyed working in her yard (especially mowing her lawn), her abundant flower gardens, helping with the garage sales held in Bismarck, Bingo, socializing with her many friends and neighbors, "Snikerfritz" her cat (who ate as good as she), and all family gatherings and special individual family events. Rosadell was the best mother and grandmother any child could ask for.

Rosadell was an active member of the Sigdal Lutheran Church , Alter Society, WELCA, of which she was an honored member, Quilters Guild, American Legion Auxiliary honorary member (54yrs), Garden Club, Homemakers Club, and Birthday Club. Within these organizations, she held and performed within various roles and positions. There were not many functions within the community of which Rosadell was not a member or did not attend. In addition to family, her calendar was filled with birthdays and anniversaries of many friends and neighbors. Each month, this was evident by the cards and notes seen on her dining room table.

Rosadell is survived by five daughters Pamela (Glen) Comstock, Battleground, WA., Rosejean (Mike) Krein, Bismarck , ND., Peggy (fiancAC. Jerry) Johnson, McVille, ND., Rita (Larry) Davis , Platte City , MO. , Jule (Roger) Carman, Vancouver, WA., three sons Steven, Anchorage, AK., Chester (Karen), Tolna, ND., Keythe (Dawn), Cavalier, ND., son-in-law Jerry Mulvey, Oshkosh, WI., 21 grandchildren, 13 great grand children, 2 great-great grand children, and her many special friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Arvid, her parents, her sister Mary Ellen, three daughters Arvidell, Peggy Jean, Diana; one son Kurt, and one son-in-law Steven Johnson.
