Rudolph G. "Duff" Morseth, age 86, resident of Fargo, ND, formerly of Edmore, ND, died Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Rudolph Gerhard Morseth was born June 15, 1921 in Overland Township, Ramsey County, near Edmore, ND, the son of Ole and Karen (Bjugan) Morseth. He was the youngest of six children. Duff received his elementary education in the Overland Consolidated School and was a graduate of Edmore High School in 1939. He continued to stay at home and farm with his dad. On November 18, 1945 he married Marion Settingsgard at Edmore. Ten days later he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged on December 8, 1946, at which time he started his own commercial trucking business. The fall of 1947 Duff and Marion moved to the family farm which he operated until retiring in 1985. They continued living on the farm until 2001, when they moved to Fargo. Duff was the Overland Township Treasurer for many years, was a 50 year member of the Elks Lodge #1216, and a 50 year member of the American Legion.

Duff will be greatly missed by his wife, Marion Morseth of Fargo, ND; 3 children, Renae (Burnell) Skjervheim of Langdon, ND, Nadine (Dan) Anderson of Fargo, ND, and Randall Morseth of Ada, MN; 4 grandchildren, Kory Gjesdal, Danielle Morseth, Taylor Morseth, and Stephen Anderson; 1 great-grandson, Gavyn Gjesdal; 2 sisters, Olga Wallace of Cando, ND, and Gertrude Berntson of Langdon, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Joseph, Lief, and Oliver; grandson, Kirk Gjesdal; son-in-law, Fred Gjesdal; 2 sisters-in-law, Agnes Morseth and Eunice Morseth; 2 brothers-in-law, Leonard Berntson and Robert Wallace; niece, Bonnie (Berntson) Carlson; and nephew, Roger Wallace.

Duff will be remembered as a kind and gentle man.

Duff's Funeral Service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church of Edmore, ND, on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Don Reynolds. The organist will be John Martinson, the soloist will be Steve Michaels, and special music will be sung by Don Reynolds, Bryce Hoime and Doug Loff. Interment will be in the Edmore Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Kory Gjesdal, Taylor Morseth, Stephen Anderson, Dale Morseth, Claire Morseth, and Dennis Morseth. Honorary bearers will be Roger & June Martinson, Pete & Sharon Martinson, Larry & Phyllis Knoke, Donald & Dolores Olson, and James & Linda Wallace. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion & VFW Honor Guard of Edmore. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Sunday, June 8, 2008 beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
