Sanford Brekke

Sanford J. Brekke, age 87, resident of Cooperstown, ND passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Sanford was born October 21, 1923 in Finley, ND to Julius and Anna Brekke. He grew up and attended school in Finley, ND. Sanford served in the United States Army from March 31, 1944 until his honorable discharge on January 12, 1946. He married Joanne Olson on August 4, 1951 at Hannaford, ND. After their marriage they lived in Cooperstown. Sanford spent 40 years working for the Griggs County road department and the city of Cooperstown.

Sanford is survived by his sons Scott (Angel Eid) Brekke of Fargo, ND and Kent Brekke of Jamestown, ND; his sister Ardelle (Donald) Askegard of Finley, ND.

Sanford was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Andrea Satrom and brother Elsworth Brekke.

Memorial services for Sanford will be Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM in Union Lutheran Church, rural Hannaford, ND. Officiating will be Reverend Jerry Rosin. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, rural Hannaford.
