Scotti Jean Larson, 65, McVille, ND passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at her home under the care of Hospice.

Scotti Jean Larson was born June 17th, 1961, to Roger and Phyllis Thompson. Official records show being born in Hettinger Hospital but being the third sibling she was told by her brother and sister that she was found in a cabbage patch. During this time a younger sister also joined the mix of shenanigans on the cattle ranch. Scotti grew up with a fond love for all animals, especially horses and dogs. She showed many horses, cattle, and sheep at the county fair, even attending the State Fair with her County Grand Champion Steer. She continued this passion for 4H as a 4H leader later in life. In her young adulthood she worked at a research station with sheep and later during college trained and showed quarter horses.

Scotti graduated from Hettinger High School in 1979. She then went on to colleges for Animal Husbandry, Light Horse Management, Practical Nursing, and returned for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. While in college Scotti met a strapping farm boy from McVille, ND. After a whirlwind courtship, they married in the fall of 1982, relocating to the family farm outside of McVille. They welcomed their first daughter, Erin, the next summer. Chuck farmed while Scotti worked in town. In 1986 they welcomed a second daughter, Danielle. While raising two children and working, Scotti made the decision to go back to school to become an LPN in 1991. Before graduation in 1992, the couple welcomed a third daughter, Kelly. Inspired by the turn of the century, Scotti enrolled in college again to attain her RN license. Throughout the years Scotti worked at several Healthcare facilities, NCHS, Hettinger Care Center, Aneta Parkview, and Cooperstown facilities. She has fond memories working alongside Dr. Rohini Becherl in Cooperstown. Scotti concluded her 44 year healthcare career in January 2026 at the Nelson County Health System Assisted Living Facility in McVille.

Scotti and Charles also joined the McVille Ambulance in 1985 through 2005. Charles was by her side throughout the years enjoying vacations together, gardening, fishing, and spoiling the grandkids.

In 2014, Charles was diagnosed with a terminally progressive disease. Scotti took on the role of caregiver, saying her marriage vows were “til death do us part and in sickness and health”. She proceeded to provide in-home care for Charles until his passing in 2022, even caring for him through her cancer diagnosis in 2021 and subsequent treatments. Scotti lost the love of her life in 2022 after 39 years of marriage.

Scotti is greeted in death by her husband, Charles Larson, parents, Roger and Phyllis Thompson, in laws, Severin and Betty Larson, sister-in-law, Dawn Berchel, grandparents, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Scotti is greatly missed by her daughters, Erin Larson, Danielle Bjorlie (Elijah), Kelly Larson, brother-in-law Thomas Larson, siblings Cheryl Thompson, Don Thompson (Michele), Shelly Clontz (Dennis), special friend Michelle Keith (Wally), informally adopted kids (you know who you are), grandkids Abigail Bjorlie, Hayley Rosewaren, Harley Rosewaren, and Iver Bjorlie, and many friends and extended family.

Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Sheyenne Lutheran Church, rural Pekin, ND.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Sheyenne Lutheran Church, rural Pekin, ND.

Burial will be at the Sheyenne Lutheran Church Cemetery.
