Sheryl G. Nelson

Sheryl G. Nelson, age 78, resident of Edmore, ND, died Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the Edmore Memorial Rest Home in Edmore.

Sheryl was born October 16, 1945 in Billings, MT, the daughter of Edward and Inez (Brock) Braunstadter.  She was raised and attended school in Butte, MT, where she graduated high school in 1964.  She then attended beauty school there, and also met Lyle Nelson in Butte.  Sheryl and Lyle were married on February 24, 1968 in Butte.  They moved to the Nelson family farm in Prospect Township, near Edmore, ND.  Sheryl worked on the farm with Lyle and also cooked for the farming crew.  Lyle died June 13, 1984.  Sheryl then worked at the Johnson Store in Edmore, Marvin Windows in Grafton, and the Edmore Memorial Rest Home until her health prevented her from doing so.  She thoroughly enjoyed baking, but the greatest things in her life were her only son, Ross, and granddaughter, Emilee.

Sheryl is survived by her son, Ross (Amanda) Nelson of Devils Lake, ND; granddaughter, Emilee Nelson of Devils Lake; sister, Marcia (Michael) Doto of Butte, MT; brother-in-law, Cliff Gustavsen; and her very special friend, Linda Berntsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle; 3 sisters, Leila (Lyman) Leppanen, Marlee Gustavsen, and Karen Braunstadter; and her dear friend, Helen Novacek.

The Memorial Service for Sheryl will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church of Edmore, ND, on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in the Edmore Cemetery.
