Sidney Harvey

Sidney I. Harvey, age 91, resident of Cooperstown, ND, formerly Finley, ND passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Cooperstown Medical Center.

Sidney was born on July 24, 1922 in rural Hannaford, ND the son of Lars and Hilda (Kalvik) Harvey. He grew up and attended Freer country school near Karnak, ND. He entered the United States Army and served in the Philippines before his honorable discharge. On June 17, 1951 he married Beatrice Urness at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown. Sidney was a farmer in the Cooperstown and Finley area for 50 years before retiring to Cooperstown. He was a member of the Sheyenne Valley Lutheran Church, served on the church board, Steele County weed board, Finley school board, Town & Country co-op board and was a 4-H leader. He had resided at the Griggs County Care Center since 2010.

Sidney will be missed and remembered by his wife Beatrice of Cooperstown, ND, sons Greg (Anne) Harvey of Fargo, ND and Michael Harvey of Hope, ND, daughters Karen (Gerald) Samson of Cooperstown, ND and Mariann (Greg) Jenkins of St. Petersburg, FL , 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, brother Leland Harvey of Jamestown, ND.

Sidney is preceded in death by his parents, sister Delores Johnson, brothers Kenneth and Leonard.

Funeral services for Sidney will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 10:30AM in the Sheyenne Valley Lutheran Church, rural Finley, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 4PM to 6PM with a prayer service at 6PM in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel and continue one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the spring at the Sheyenne Valley Cemetery.
