Susan Olson

Susan D. Olson, age 69, resident of Brocket, ND, died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society Lakota.

Susan Diane Karna was born February 10, 1943 at Michigan, ND, the daughter of Oscar and Eleanora (Hokanson) Karna. She was raised and attended school in Lakota. Susan married Gordon Olson on April 8, 1960 at Lakota. They lived in Bismarck until 1976, at which time they moved to Brocket. She enjoyed quilting, flowers, gardening, and collecting cook books. She was a member of United Lutheran Church and WELCA in Brocket, and also the Ladies Auxiliary of the W.L. Cowper American Legion Post #238 of Michigan.

Susan will be greatly missed by her husband, Gordon of Brocket; 3 children, Keith Olson of Lakota, Scott (Debbie) Olson of Grand Forks, and Lori (Steve) Schuh of Lakota; 7 grandchildren, Josh (Brandie), Jamie, Jesse, Logan, Stepheny (Chet), Stephen, and Damion; 6 great-grandchildren, Tommy, Shay, Mariah, Roman, Korban, and Kylynn; 2 brothers, Robert Karna of Washburn, ND, and Steve Karna of Lincoln, ND; 1 sister, Carole (William) Rysavy of Lawton, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 7 brothers, John, Oscar Jr., Donald, Gerald, Richard, James, and Michael; and 3 sisters, Kay DiCristina, Joan Fisk, and Karen Reineke.

The Memorial Service will be held at United Lutheran Church of Brocket on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Becky Horn and Rev. Sue Mackey. The organist will be Karen Fowler. Interment will be in the spring at the Enterprise Cemetery , rural Brocket. An Honor Guard will be accorded by the Ladies Auxiliary of the W.L. Cowper American Legion Post #238 of Michigan. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Friday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
