Tami Jo (Luehring) Stein was born August 22, 1966, to Edgar and Jacqueline (Hanson) Luehring. She graduated from Tolna Public School in 1984. She continued her education at Lake Region State College and graduated with her associates degree. She then worked in activities at the Nelson County Health System in McVille. This is when she met the love of her life, Mike Stein. The couple married on September 28, 1991 and started their beautiful family.

While working and raising a family, Tami went back to school for her LPN. She then worked for Nelson County Health System for 38 years. Tami had a strong faith and loved serving her church as a Wednesday school teacher, secretary for the church council, McVille Days committee member and EMT for 15 years.

In the summer of 2022, Tami was diagnosed with stage 4 invasive ductal carcinoma. She fought hard and tried many kinds of treatments. She lost her long hard fight on Sunday, August 16, 2026, with her loving family surrounding her.

Tami is survived by her husband, Michael, who was her rock; children, Clay, Carleigh (Anthony), Courtney, and Cade; her two sweetheart granddaughters, Hallie Jo and Hartley Ann; siblings, Terry (Marla), Michael (Renae), Jeffrey (Linda), Kathy (Tim) Johnson, and Brian (Stacy); father-in-law, Jerome; sister-in-law, Michele Stein (Steve); brother-in-law, Brent (Tammie) Stein; sister-in-law, Beth (Shane) Vrem; many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; aunt, Connie Flaagan and many cousins.

Tami was preceded in death by her parents, Jackie and Edgar; mother-in-law, Clarice; and grandparents, Josie and Clarence Hanson, and, Fred and Emma Luehring.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 5-6 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at American Lutheran Church, Tolna, ND.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at American Lutheran Church, Tolna, ND with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be at the McVille Cemetery.
