Terry J. Ellefson, age 69, resident of Cooperstown, ND passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Cooperstown Medical Center - Hospital in Cooperstown.
Terry was born December 1, 1939 in McVille, ND the son of E. Hamlin and Myrtle (Boyer) Ellefson. He was baptized and confirmed at Ottawa Lutheran Church. He grew up and attended country school in Griggs County before starting to farm with his father on the family farm near Aneta, ND. He married Beverly Pella on April 28, 1962 in Cooperstown. In 1964 and 1965 Terry worked for American Bridge Company and E.K. Jenkins as a crane operator in the construction of US missile bases throughout ND. In 1966 he started his own business Ellefson Sales & Excavating. Throughout the years Terry did excavating work along with buying, rebuilding, and selling trucks. In 1986 he expanded his business by purchasing the trucking company Concept Inc. and operated it with his son, Brent. He enjoyed building projects, hunting, auction sales and having coffee with family and friends.
Terry is survived by his wife Beverly of Cooperstown, ND; son Brent (Becky) Ellefson of Cooperstown, ND; daughter Brenda (Chris) Domeier of Appleton, MN; 5 grandchildren, Aubrey, Marissa, & Taylor Ellefson, Ashley & Austin Domeier; mother Myrtle Ellefson of Cooperstown, ND; brothers, Elwood (Cheryl) Ellefson of Aneta, ND, Gary (Marlys) Ellefson of Fargo, ND, Steven (Jolene) Ellefson of Bismarck, ND, and Kevin (Patricia) Ellefson of Charlotte, NC; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, E. Hamlin Ellefson.
Funeral services for Terry will be Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Cooperstown. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 10, 2009 from 4 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM prayer service in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel and continue one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the Ottawa Cemetery, rural Aneta, ND.
