Truman L. Trostad passed away suddenly at his home on April 19, 2012 at age 76.

Truman was born January 1, 1936 in McVille, ND the first of four children to Theodore and Selma Trostad. He attended a rural elementary school north of Cooperstown, ND and Cooperstown High School during his youth. Truman married Kay Anderson on March 24, 1956 in McVille. Soon after he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served 2 years, 13 months which were spent overseas in Korea. After his time in the Service, Truman and Kay made their home in Nelson and Griggs counties. He worked at the Chevrolet garage, Klinger & Sons Inc., Collins Construction and Wilrich Hydraulics, while continuing to help his father farm for many years. In 1978 Truman and Kay were the fourth generation family to move to the Trostad farm. He continued to farm until 1994 when they moved and retired in McVille. They had five children, Julie (Cecil) Stewart, Carolyn (late John) Nelson, Lori (Daniel) Kvislen, Mark Trostad, and Cheryl (Doug) Stetz.

Truman enjoyed hunting and fishing, but mostly farming throughout his lifetime. He spent much of his time in retirement years doing woodworking projects, going for walks, driving around the countryside, and conversing about farming.

Truman is survived by his wife; children; brothers Obert (Marilynn) Trostad, Grand Forks, ND, Duane (Bonnie) Trostad, Detroit Lakes, MN; sister Janice (Dean) Thompson, Northwood, ND; and ten grandchildren.

Truman was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law.

Funeral Services for Truman will be held Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM at McVille Lutheran Church, McVille, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, April 22, 2012 beginning at 4 PM with a Prayer Service at 6 PM in the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home of McVille and will continue one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the McVille Cemetery.
