Vernice Schothorst

Vernice Schothorst, age 91, of McVille , ND passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Nelson County Health System - Care Center in McVille.

Vernice was born July3, 1922 at Michigan, ND, the daughter of Verner and Olga (Ruud) Olson. She grew up on a farm in Center Township, and attended school in McVille. She attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks after high school. In 1941 she moved to Washington DC where she worked for the Treasury Dept., later transferring to Chicago . She married Virgel Schothorst July 27, 1947 in Forest Park, IL. They later moved to McVille to manage The Community Lanes and Cafe until her retirement in 1995. Vernice was a member of the Lutheran Church of McVille and enjoyed cooking, embroidery, playing cards, bingo, and going to casinos. She also was an active, life member of the McVille American Legion Women's Auxiliary.

Survivors include her two sons, James (Deborah), Grand Forks, Donald (Donna), Grand Forks, and Debra Reinhart of Fargo. She has nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgel, brother Adrian, sister-in-law Marie Olson, daughter Vicki Lynn Miller, and son-in-law Dennis Reinhart.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. at McVille Lutheran Church, McVille, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the McVille Cemetery .

Memorials are preferred to Nelson County Health System - Hospital, McVille, ND.
