Viola J. Edlund

Viola J. Edlund, age 88, resident of Binford, ND passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown.

Viola was born in Iowa on September 8, 1926 the daughter of James and Edna (Lott) Stage. She moved with her family at a young age to McHenry, ND where she grew up and attended school. She received her teaching certificate and taught school near McHenry. She married Gene Edlund on September 10, 1948. After their marriage they spent 5 years in Finley, ND. Viola worked for the grocery store and hardware store during this time. When the couple moved back to Binford she spent her time raising family. Viola was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and very active within the Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, baking wedding cakes, and visiting with family and friends.

Viola will be missed and remembered by her daughters, Becky Richter of McVille, ND and Mary Edlund of Fargo, ND; sons, Keith (Janet) of McHenry, ND and Jim of Binford, ND; 10 grandchildren, Katie (Ryan) Myklebust, Emily Edlund, Molly (Weston) Mueller, Jessica (Craig) Dinwoodie, Robert (Amanda) Richter, Nancy Thiery, James Edlund, Rebecca Edlund, Derrick Manock, and Ali Manock; 3 great grandchildren, Kylee, Kaleb, and Joselynne; along with one brother, James Stage of McHenry, ND.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Arthur Midgley; husband, Gene; son, Don; and grandson, Jameson.

Funeral services for Viola will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Binford, ND. Visitation will be Monday, December 15, 2014 from 4 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM prayer service in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel and continue one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the Binford Cemetery.
