Wayne A. Luehring, age 76, resident of Lakota, ND, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Kindred Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Wayne Allen Luehring was born May 26, 1937 in Bottineau, ND, the son of Fred and Alma (Klipp) Luehring. He was raised there until the age of 7 when his family moved to Tolna, ND, where he was educated and graduated from Tolna High School. Wayne married Dorothy Lou Morken on December 28, 1958 at Pekin, ND. They lived in Grand Forks for some time while Wayne worked in carpentry and cabinetry. He later was employed by the city of Grand Forks. In 1974 the family moved to Lakota where Wayne worked for the Knetter Cheese Factory as a milk truck driver until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Lakota Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with his dog, Punkin. Wayne has donated his body to the UND Medical School for anatomical study.

Wayne will be missed by his wife, Dorothy Lou Luehring of Lakota, ND; a daughter, Joy (Tom) Townson of Devils Lake, ND; a son, Randy (Julie) Luehring of Grand Forks, ND; 2 grandchildren, Dorothy Jane and Dylan; 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Edgar Luehring and Howard (Marlene) Luehring, both of Tolna, ND; sister-in-law Maxine Luehring of St. Paul, MN; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Emma; 2 brothers, Willard & Harvey; 3 sisters, Alice Risinger, Mildred Hansing & Gladys VanAcker; sister-in-law, Jackie Luehring; and 3 brothers-in-law, Donald Risinger, Harold Hansing & Albert VanAcker.

A Memorial Service for Wayne will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Peter Horn, Pastor of Lakota Lutheran Church.
