William J. Matejcek, age 90, resident of rural Brocket, ND, died Monday, September 15, 2008 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

William Joseph Matejcek was born March 30, 1918 on his parents farm in Sauter Township of Walsh County, ND, the son of William Sr. and Magdalena (Vasichek) Matejcek. He was raised there and attended the Sauter School. William served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Alice Kosobud on November 12, 1946. They made their home in Sauter Township. William farmed there all of his life. He was a member of the WFLA-Kosobud Lodge and played the accordion with Bill's Tenor Band.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Alice Matejcek of rural Brocket, ND; his son, Kenneth Matejcek of Horace, ND; his daughter, Bonnie (Wilbur) Powers of Sheridan, WY; 4 granddaughters; 1 grandson; his brother, Lawrence (Mildred) Matejcek of Brocket, ND; and his nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Maynard Matejcek; his sister, Evelyn Skalicky; and his brother, Edward Matejcek.

At William's request, no funeral services will be held. Interment will be in the WFLA-Kosobud Cemetery, rural Lankin, ND.
