Our History

Aaker Funeral Home was founded in 1918 as the Graham Funeral Home, on main street in Lakota. In 1959, Daniel (Betty) Aaker purchased the funeral home and relocated to the current location. In 1982, their son, Jim (Jeanne) Aaker purchased the funeral home. Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home in McVille was founded in 1949 as the Wonder Funeral Home and later changed to Stanley Funeral Home when purchased by Robert Stanley. In 1993 Robert and Ryan Iverson partnered together to create Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home. In 1999 Ryan and Dan Kassian partnered together to create Iverson-Kassian Funeral Services, purchasing Aaker Funeral Home from Jim. In 2000 Robert retired and Iverson-Kassion Funeral Services purchased his interest in the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home. When Ryan retired in 2020, Dan continued operating both funeral homes. In 2025 Lacie (Chris) Brueckner created Brueckner Funeral Services, purchasing both Aaker Funeral Home and Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home. Lacie was born and raised in North Dakota and graduated from the University of Minnesota Mortuary Science Program in 2005. From 2005 to 2013 Lacie worked at Baker Funeral Home in Mayville, ND and from 2013 to 2020 she managed Myers Funeral Home in Linton, ND. In 2020 Lacie and Chris moved their family to Chris’s grandparent’s farm south of Niagara, ND where Lacie worked part-time at Dahl Funeral Home in East Grand Forks, MN and also helped Dan occasionally in Lakota and McVille before purchasing the funeral homes.
